I participated in a 3-week long USGS research trip down the Colorado River after an experimental flood release from Glen Canyon Dam. The flood had been covered in the national media but without much detail about why it occurred or what it was supposed to achieve. As a freelancer, I prepared a multi-media package for the Christian Science Monitor Environment section.
The article and accompanying audio slide show were on the home page of the Christian Science Monitor website and received a large number of visitors. The piece also generated many comments, including some debate on the scientific issues involved.
